The general settings control the basic behaviour of Quote & Cut on your website.

You can find these settings from:

Quote & Cut → Settings

Shortcode #

Quote & Cut displays the customer quote form using this shortcode:

[quoteandcut]

Paste this shortcode into any WordPress page or post where you want the quote form to appear.

For example, you could create a page called:

Instant Laser Cutting Quote

Then add the shortcode to that page.

Copying the shortcode #

The settings page includes a read-only shortcode field and a copy button.

Use this if you want to copy the shortcode without typing it manually.

Frontend preview #

The Frontend Preview setting controls whether customers can see the nested preview after a quote calculation.

The available option is:

Do not show nested preview on the frontend

Enable this if you want to keep the nesting preview hidden from customers.

This does not stop the quote from being calculated. It only hides the customer-facing nested preview area.

When to hide the frontend preview #

You may want to hide the nested preview if:

  • You do not want customers to see nesting layouts.
  • You want a simpler quote result screen.
  • You only want staff to review production layouts in the WooCommerce order.
  • You want to avoid customers interpreting the preview as a final production drawing.

Powered by Quote & Cut credit #

Quote & Cut includes an optional Powered by Quote & Cut credit.

When enabled, a small credit link appears below the frontend quote form. The credit is optional and is turned off by default. To enable or disable it, go to:

Quote & Cut → Settings

Find the Powered by Quote & Cut card and toggle or untoggle:

Display the “Powered by Quote & Cut” credit.

Then click Save.

When enabled, the credit links to quoteandcut.com. Use this if you are happy to show a small attribution below the quote form. Leave it disabled if you do not want the credit displayed.

Currency #

The Currency setting controls the currency used by Quote & Cut pricing.

Choose the currency you want customers to see on the quote form and in the cart.

Important: your WooCommerce store currency should usually match your Quote & Cut currency. If the two do not match, customers may see inconsistent pricing.

Machine hourly rate #

The Machine Hourly Rate is the hourly cost used in cutting calculations.

This should reflect the rate you want Quote & Cut to use when calculating machine time.

For example, this might include:

  • Machine operating cost.
  • Labour cost.
  • Overheads.
  • Profit assumptions, depending on how you price work.

This value is covered in more detail in the Pricing & Materials category.

Handling cost #

The Handling Cost is a cost per full sheet.

Use this to account for sheet handling work such as loading, unloading, or general material handling.

This is separate from delivery costs and WooCommerce shipping.

Saving changes #

After changing general settings, click:

Save Settings

Then test the quote form again on the frontend.
