Quote & Cut uses WooCommerce to handle the commercial part of the order.

WooCommerce manages the cart, checkout, payment, customer information, shipping selection, order status, emails, and order history.

Quote & Cut manages the laser-cutting job data attached to that order.

What WooCommerce handles #

WooCommerce handles:

  • Cart.
  • Checkout.
  • Customer account.
  • Billing address.
  • Shipping address.
  • Payment method.
  • Taxes, depending on your WooCommerce setup.
  • Shipping method selection.
  • Order status.
  • Order emails.
  • Refunds and order management.

What Quote & Cut adds #

Quote & Cut adds:

  • A calculated quote item.
  • Part details.
  • Material selections.
  • Quantities.
  • Preview images.
  • Original DXF downloads.
  • Generated file downloads.
  • Secondary Process details, if used.
  • Production-friendly order information.

Quote & Cut jobs are added after calculation #

A customer cannot add a Quote & Cut job to the cart until a quote has been calculated successfully.

The quote calculation creates the job data that WooCommerce needs.

If the customer changes the form after calculation, they should calculate again before adding the quote to the cart.

Quote & Cut job price #

The Quote & Cut cart item uses the calculated quote price.

The internal WooCommerce product itself is not priced like a normal shop product. Quote & Cut sets the cart price from the calculated job data.

Cart item quantity #

A Quote & Cut job is normally added to the WooCommerce cart as one cart item.

The individual part quantities are stored inside the Quote & Cut job details.

For example, one cart item might contain:

  • 3 different DXF files.
  • 50 total parts.
  • Several materials.
  • Folding on one part.
  • Powder coating on another part.

Do not treat the WooCommerce cart item quantity as the number of cut parts. Use the Quote & Cut part details instead.

Order item data #

When checkout is completed, Quote & Cut copies the job information from the cart item into the WooCommerce order item.

This includes the part list, files, generated outputs, preview images, and other Quote & Cut metadata.

WooCommerce emails #

Quote & Cut job details can also appear in WooCommerce order emails.

Email display may include part information such as:

  • File name.
  • Material.
  • Quantity.
  • Material and cutting cost per part.
  • Weight per component.
  • Secondary Process details, if Advanced is active.

Admin order display #

In the WordPress admin order screen, Quote & Cut adds a clear parts display and a files panel so staff can review the order.

The main sections are:

  • Quote & Cut Parts
  • Quote & Cut Files

Important note #

Quote & Cut works with WooCommerce, but it does not replace your WooCommerce order process.

You should still configure WooCommerce correctly for:

  • Taxes.
  • Payment methods.
  • Shipping zones.
  • Customer emails.
  • Order statuses.
  • Refunds.
  • Store policies.
