Quote & Cut uses an internal WooCommerce product to add calculated quote jobs to the cart.

This product is usually called:

Laser Cut Parts

Why this product exists #

WooCommerce requires a product to exist before an item can be added to the cart.

Quote & Cut creates or repairs an internal simple product so calculated jobs can pass through WooCommerce checkout.

The product acts as a container for the calculated Quote & Cut job.

The product is hidden #

The Laser Cut Parts product is hidden from the normal product catalogue.

Customers should not browse to it or purchase it like a normal WooCommerce product.

They should only add it to the cart through a completed Quote & Cut calculation.

Do not delete the product #

Do not delete the Laser Cut Parts product unless you are permanently removing Quote & Cut from your website.

If the product is deleted, Quote & Cut will try to recreate or repair it when needed, but deleting it can cause confusion while testing orders.

Do not change it into a normal product #

Do not use the Laser Cut Parts product for normal shop sales.

Avoid changing:

  • Product name.
  • Product type.
  • Catalog visibility.
  • Stock management.
  • Price.
  • Downloadable setting.
  • Virtual setting.
  • Internal product metadata.

Quote & Cut manages this product for the quoting workflow.

Product price #

The product may have a small default price internally, but the cart item price is replaced by the calculated quote price.

The price customers pay comes from the Quote & Cut calculation, not from the normal product price field.

Direct add-to-cart is blocked #

Quote & Cut protects the Laser Cut Parts product so it can only be added from a completed quote.

If someone tries to add the product directly, WooCommerce may show a message such as:

This Quote & Cut product can only be added from a completed quote.

This is expected.

Invalid cart items #

If an invalid Quote & Cut cart item is detected, Quote & Cut can remove it from the cart and ask the customer to create a new quote.

This helps prevent incomplete or stale quote data from being purchased.

Where the product is stored #

The product is stored in WooCommerce like any other product, but it is hidden from customers.

If you need to check it, go to:

Products → All Products

Then search for:

Laser Cut Parts

Best practice #

Leave the internal product alone unless support asks you to check it.

For normal setup, styling, pricing, and order processing, use the Quote & Cut settings pages rather than editing the Laser Cut Parts product directly.
