Quote & Cut includes pricing strategy settings that let you add margin, protect small orders, and recover per-sheet costs.

You can find these settings from:

Quote & Cut → Settings → Pricing Strategy & Markups

Percentage Markup #

The Percentage Markup setting adds a percentage uplift to the calculated component cost.

Example:

If the calculated cost is £10 and the percentage markup is 50%, the price becomes £15 before any later minimum-price adjustment.

Use this to add margin across all quoted parts.

Fixed Markup Per Part #

The Fixed Markup Per Part setting adds a fixed amount to every single part calculated.

Example:

If the fixed markup is £2 and the customer orders 10 parts, the quote includes £2 per part.

Use this to recover small handling, admin, or processing costs per part.

Minimum Price Per Part #

The Minimum Price Per Part setting raises the final calculated part price if it is below your minimum.

Example:

If a part calculates at £1.20 and the minimum price per part is £5.00, the part price is raised to £5.00.

Use this to avoid selling very small parts at prices that are not worth processing.

Flat Cost Per Sheet #

The Flat Cost Per Sheet setting adds a fixed cost for each sheet used by the nesting job.

It is applied as:

Sheets Used × Flat Cost Per Sheet

Use this if you want to add a simple per-sheet charge.

This could be used for:

  • Sheet administration.
  • Consumables.
  • General per-sheet overhead.
  • Production preparation.

Loading Cost Per Sheet #

The Loading Cost Per Sheet setting adds a loading charge for each sheet used by the nesting job.

It is applied as:

Sheets Used × Loading Cost Per Sheet

Use this if you want to recover loading or material movement costs separately from the general handling cost.

Handling Cost #

The Handling Cost setting is found in the general settings area.

It is a cost per full sheet and is treated separately from the flat cost and loading cost.

Use it to account for sheet handling work such as:

  • Loading.
  • Unloading.
  • Moving material.
  • Removing cut parts.

How these settings work together #

Quote & Cut first calculates the base cost using material, machine time, gas, and other cost settings.

Then it can apply:

  1. Percentage markup.
  2. Fixed markup per part.
  3. Minimum price per part.

Per-sheet costs are based on sheet usage and are included as part of the job cost.

Recommended starting approach #

A sensible starting approach is:

  • Use Percentage Markup for your general margin.
  • Use Minimum Price Per Part to protect small parts.
  • Use Flat Cost Per Sheet or Loading Cost Per Sheet only if you need those costs separated.
  • Avoid adding too many overlapping costs until you have tested the results.

Avoid double-counting #

Be careful not to include the same cost in multiple places.

For example, if your machine hourly rate already includes labour and loading, you may not also need a high loading cost per sheet.

If your material cost already includes delivery-in or handling, keep that in mind when setting handling and per-sheet costs.

Testing markups #

After changing markup or minimum settings, test:

  • A very small part.
  • A medium part.
  • A large part.
  • A multi-quantity order.
  • A job that uses more than one sheet.

Compare the final prices with your normal quoting method.
