Applies to: Enterprise
Enterprise can automatically update indexed material prices once per week.
This is controlled by the option below the material table.
Go to:
Quote & Cut → Settings → Materials
Then enable:
Automatically update indexed material prices weekly
What the weekly updater does #
When enabled, the weekly updater checks materials assigned to:
- Carbon Steel.
- Stainless Steel.
- Aluminium.
It then updates their material cost using the Quote & Cut market-index feed.
Materials set to Other are skipped.
When the weekly updater starts #
When automatic updates are enabled and Enterprise Market Indexing is available, Quote & Cut schedules the weekly refresh.
The first scheduled run is set after the feature is enabled.
What gets updated #
The updater can update:
- Material cost.
- Last market multiplier.
- Last market refresh time.
- Baseline market data, where needed.
The customer-facing quote price can change after material costs are updated.
What does not get updated #
The weekly updater does not change:
- Material name.
- Material ID.
- Sheet length.
- Sheet width.
- Density.
- Cutting speed.
- Pierce time.
- Gas used.
- Sheet stock.
- Materials set to Other.
Last Market Refresh #
Each material can show a Last Market Refresh value.
This helps you see whether the material has been updated by the market-indexing process.
If it has never been synced, it may show:
Not yet synced
Manual price edits #
If you manually change the cost of an indexed material, Quote & Cut re-anchors future market movement from your new saved price.
This means your manual change becomes the new reference point for future weekly updates.
Disabling weekly updates #
To stop automatic material repricing:
- Go to Quote & Cut → Settings → Materials.
- Untick Automatically update indexed material prices weekly.
- Click Save Settings.
Existing material costs remain as they are. Future automatic updates stop.
If Market Indexing access is paused #
If Enterprise Market Indexing is not available on the connected account:
- Automatic repricing is paused.
- The weekly schedule is cleared or not run.
- Market settings are preserved.
- Material costs are not automatically updated.
Recommended process #
Before enabling weekly updates on a live site:
- Export or record your current material costs.
- Review every Market Index Type.
- Set materials that should not change to Other.
- Enable automatic weekly updates.
- Save settings.
- Review prices after the first update.
- Compare against your own supplier costs.
Important pricing note #
Market indexing helps keep sheet costs aligned with market movement, but it does not replace your commercial pricing review.
You should still review material prices regularly against:
- Supplier prices.
- Delivery costs.
- Stockholding costs.
- Currency changes.
- Business margin.
- Waste and offcut policy.
