Each part needs a material and quantity before Quote & Cut can calculate a price.

Material dropdown #

The material dropdown shows the materials configured in:

Quote & Cut → Settings → Materials

Customers only see materials that are available in your Quote & Cut material list.

Each material option normally shows the material name and thickness.

Example:

Mild Steel S275 (3mm)

If a material is missing #

If a customer cannot see a material, check:

  • The material exists in Quote & Cut settings.
  • The material has been saved.
  • The material has a valid name.
  • The material has a valid ID.
  • Sheet details and cut data are complete.
  • The quote page has been refreshed.
  • Site cache is not showing an old version of the form.

Material affects pricing #

The selected material affects:

  • Sheet size.
  • Sheet cost.
  • Material thickness.
  • Density and weight.
  • Gap.
  • Cutting speed.
  • Pierce time.
  • Gas type.
  • Secondary Process availability, if Advanced is enabled.

Changing material can significantly change the quote price.

Quantity field #

Each part has a quantity field.

The quantity must be a whole number greater than zero.

Invalid quantities will prevent calculation.

Examples of valid quantities:

  • 1
  • 5
  • 10
  • 100

Quantity affects price #

Quantity affects:

  • Number of parts nested.
  • Material usage.
  • Total cutting time.
  • Total pierces.
  • Total weight.
  • Secondary Process costs.
  • Final quote total.

Different materials in one quote #

A customer can select different materials for different parts in the same quote.

For example:

  • Part 1: Mild Steel 3 mm.
  • Part 2: Stainless Steel 2 mm.
  • Part 3: Aluminium 5 mm.

Quote & Cut groups parts by material for calculation and nesting.

Changing material or quantity after calculation #

If the customer changes material or quantity after calculating a price, the previous quote result is no longer current.

The customer should click Calculate Price again.

Best practice #

Before calculating, customers should check every part row/card and confirm:

  • File uploaded.
  • Material selected.
  • Quantity entered.
  • Secondary Processes selected, if needed.
  • No validation warnings are visible.
