Customers calculate a live quote by clicking:
Calculate Price
Quote & Cut then checks the form, processes the DXF data, starts the nesting job, and returns the quote result.
Before calculating #
Before clicking Calculate Price, each part should have:
- A DXF file.
- A selected material.
- A valid quantity.
- Confirmed dimensions, if requested.
- Valid Secondary Process selections, if used.
What happens during calculation #
During calculation, Quote & Cut will:
- Validate each part.
- Save the original DXF files.
- Group parts by material.
- Send the nesting job for calculation.
- Show live progress.
- Update the quote summary.
- Render the final quote result.
Live nesting progress #
While the quote is calculating, the form can show a progress area.
This may include:
- Progress title.
- Progress status.
- Percentage indicator.
- Progress bar.
- Current job information.
- Estimated time information.
Example messages may include:
- Preparing calculation.
- Uploading files and preparing the first material.
- Original DXFs saved.
- Starting nesting job.
- Nesting job started.
Multiple materials #
If a quote contains multiple materials, Quote & Cut groups the parts by material.
This helps the calculation use the correct sheet, material, cut data, and gas settings for each group.
Button state #
While calculating, the Calculate Price button is disabled.
After the calculation completes, the button may show that the calculation is complete.
If the customer changes the quote after calculation, the form resets and the customer should calculate again.
When calculation is blocked #
Calculation may be blocked if:
- A DXF file is missing.
- A material is missing.
- Quantity is invalid.
- DXF geometry is invalid.
- DXF dimensions need confirmation.
- A part is too large for the selected sheet.
- Folding requires at least one fold.
- Powder coating requires a colour and finish.
- Other Colour requires manual quote.
- The sheet limit is exceeded.
- The user does not have permission to use the form.
- Rate limiting has been triggered.
If calculation fails #
If calculation fails, the customer may see a validation message, error popup, or manual quote message.
The customer should correct the highlighted issue and try again.
