Quote & Cut checks the customer’s quote before calculation.
If something is missing or invalid, the form shows a message so the customer can correct it.
Common validation messages #
Customers may see messages for:
- Missing DXF file.
- Missing material.
- Invalid quantity.
- Invalid geometry.
- DXF dimensions needing confirmation.
- Part too large for the selected sheet.
- Folding requiring at least one fold.
- Powder coating requiring a colour and finish.
- Other Colour requiring a manual quote.
- Access restriction.
- Rate limiting.
- API or nesting errors.
Missing DXF file #
This means one or more parts do not have a DXF file uploaded.
The customer should upload a DXF file for each part or remove unused part rows.
Missing material #
This means one or more parts do not have a material selected.
The customer should choose a material for each part.
They can use Apply to All if every part should use the same material.
Invalid quantity #
This means one or more quantity fields are empty, zero, negative, or not a valid number.
The customer should enter a whole number greater than zero.
Invalid geometry #
This means Quote & Cut could not calculate usable part geometry from the DXF.
The customer should check that the DXF contains a valid closed cutting profile.
They may need to fix the file in CAD software and upload it again.
Confirm dimensions #
If the DXF file does not specify units clearly, Quote & Cut may ask the customer to confirm dimensions before nesting.
The customer should check the displayed size, choose the correct unit if needed, then click Confirm dimensions.
Part too large for selected sheet #
This means the uploaded part does not fit on the selected material sheet, even when rotated.
The customer can try:
- Choosing a material with a larger sheet size.
- Uploading a smaller part.
- Contacting you for a manual quote.
Folding validation #
If folding is selected, the customer must enter the number of folds.
If the part is outside your folding rules, folding may be hidden or unavailable.
Powder coating validation #
If powder coating is selected, the customer must choose:
- Colour.
- Finish level.
If Other Colour is selected, automatic pricing is not available and the customer should follow your manual quote message.
Sheet limit messages #
If you have enabled a material sheet limit, large jobs may be blocked or redirected to a manual quote flow.
The customer may see a message explaining that the job exceeds your online sheet limit.
Access restriction messages #
If form access restriction is enabled, customers who do not have permission may see an access message.
For example, you may restrict the form to logged-in users or specific user roles.
Rate limit messages #
Rate limiting protects the form from too many requests in a short time.
If a customer is rate limited, they may need to wait before trying again.
If genuine customers are blocked frequently, review the rate limit settings.
API or nesting errors #
If the quote service cannot complete the calculation, customers may see a nesting or API error.
Common causes include:
- Invalid API key.
- Connection issue.
- Problematic DXF geometry.
- Temporary service issue.
- Server request failure.
Site administrators should check account status, diagnostics, and support information if this continues.
How to help customers resolve errors #
When supporting a customer, ask for:
- The DXF file.
- Material selected.
- Quantity.
- Screenshot of the message.
- Whether folding or powder coating was selected.
- Browser/device used.
- Approximate time of the error.
Do not ask customers to send API keys or private admin settings.
