Folding lets customers request folded parts directly from the Quote & Cut form.

When folding is enabled and fully configured, customers can select folding per part, enter the number of folds, add notes, and optionally upload a folding drawing.

You can find the folding settings from:

Quote & Cut → Secondary Processes → Folding

Requirements #

Before enabling folding, make sure:

  • Quote & Cut is installed and active.
  • Quote & Cut Advanced is installed and active.
  • Your Quote & Cut account includes Advanced or Enterprise access.
  • Your API key and site binding are connected.
  • Materials are configured.
  • The selected materials have realistic size, thickness, density, and pricing data.

Enable folding #

To enable folding:

  1. Go to Quote & Cut → Secondary Processes.
  2. Find the Folding section.
  3. Tick Enable folding.
  4. Complete the required pricing and limit fields.
  5. Click Save Secondary Processes.

The option shown on the settings page is:

Show Folding when configured and available for the part.

What customers see #

When folding is available for a part, customers can select:

Add folding

After selecting folding, the form shows:

  • Number of folds.
  • Fold notes / instructions.
  • Folding drawing upload.

The folding fields appear per part, so different parts in the same quote can have different folding requirements.

When folding appears on the quote form #

Folding appears only when it is:

  • Enabled.
  • Fully configured.
  • Available for the selected material.
  • Available for the selected thickness.
  • Within your length limit.
  • Within your width limit.
  • Within your single-part weight limit.

If a part does not meet your rules, folding is hidden or shown as unavailable for that part.

Required folding settings #

For folding to be usable, configure:

  • Setup fee per different folded part.
  • Price per fold.
  • Minimum folding charge.
  • Maximum folding length.
  • Maximum folding width.
  • Maximum folding weight.

Even if you do not want strict limits, enter realistic maximum values for your workshop so the process is considered fully configured.

Optional folding settings #

You can also configure:

  • Allowed materials.
  • Allowed thicknesses.
  • Customer instruction text.
  • Size surcharge bands.
  • Weight surcharge bands.

Customer instruction text #

Use the Customer instruction text field to explain what customers should provide.

Example:

Please enter the number of folds required and upload a folding drawing where possible. If your part needs a specific fold direction or bend radius, include this in the notes.

This text is shown on the frontend when folding is available.

Saving changes #

After enabling or editing folding, click:

Save Secondary Processes

Then test the quote form on the frontend.

Testing folding #

After saving:

  1. Open the quote form.
  2. Upload a DXF file.
  3. Select a material that allows folding.
  4. Enter a quantity.
  5. Select Add folding.
  6. Enter the number of folds.
  7. Add fold notes.
  8. Upload a folding drawing, if required.
  9. Calculate the price.
  10. Place a test order and review the order data.

Common setup issue #

If folding does not appear, the most common cause is that folding is enabled but not fully configured.

Check that all required prices and limits have values.
